Two points of view about the invention of the car.

The car invention is something that has been a historic thing and every day is progressing more and more at the same time we are depending every time more in this. Even may be the greatest invention of the last 120 years. But, there is always to sides of the topic.

First, the invention of the cars has bring to the people a lot of positives option, sometimes you do not  notice but is a transport that helps you a lot in case you work with It, for example to transport heavy items to a place. However, there are people that leave far away from the city, and every time they have to go there for work or a formality It is necessary to get there at the time.

 According to the last thing ,  the other side can be mentioned, I do not refer only a car, because we all know that buying a car is not easy, they had a huge prices besides the gasoline you had to spend in. And this would reflect one of the worst things about this.

However, the invention of the car brings at the same time negative things, like the huge pollution that this brings, cars are one of the first element that cause global warming, even in some cities there are more cars that people. Moreover, the Car also, is transforming every day more in lazier persons, because instead of using the bike or walk to a place, we prefer to go by car of taking a bus.

To conclude, is important to mention that car is a great invention of all times, but with this brings a lot of bad things this is related to all the consequences that technology give to us, like weakness, make the life easier and depending of this.  

Technology is dominating us!

We all know how much we use the technology every day, to do all daily routine, for seeing the weather, chatting with friends, work, etc. But we do not stop and think in the pros and cons that this massive use of technology brings to our life’s.

There is no doubt that we are all day surrounded of technology stuff, like computer, machines, cellphones or electrical appliance. And every moment, there are new and better because always are update. Plus, in the future there will be more and more. For this reason this is becoming more prevalent to every person and the world in general.

Now, it is important to mention the good and bad thing around this topic.

In the first place, there are good things of the technology and that we use it to keep connected in an easier way. For example, if you have a family that live out the country, the social media can let you keep in touch with this person in a fast and comfortable way. Also, this allow to have an easier life, all the technology is invented to make the life of the people less complicated, for instance, in the old days people used to wash the clothes by hand and dry it outside, waiting all day for this to be dried up. Now, you can have a machine that make all that work for you, because the washing machine make your clothes clean with no necessity of human intervention. As well as, they create another machine that dries your clothes in fewer hours.

Nevertheless, this also brings bad things, because technology makes us every day lazier, by cause of that all the machines are doing the work that we used to. Nonetheless, we can found more bad aspect of this topic. I already mention that social media helps us to connect with people that are far away for us, but this at the same time separated from the people we have close. In other words, there are people that pass all the day at their phones or computers, and forgetting about their family or talking with them, for example there are people that pass all the dinner at the table on their phones, not speaking to each other. Or even worst going to their rooms to be at the computers. 

Conclusively, is important to say that is true that technology is really useful and makes our lives easier. But at the same time we are transforming every time more dependent to these things, such as, at the contemporary there is not a person that does not have a phone. Besides, we are closing in an artificial world that manage us and every day we are converting more dependent of this, keeping away the important things in life, that sometimes we forget, instead we prefer to be pending of a small equipment that controls our life’s.

Enviroment Pollution

 Nowadays pollution is something that all we have to live every single day. Every time there are new invents that affects more the environment. However this is not a recently problem, this has been in a line of increase. This factor has become so serious that the State has created norms in relation to this. But, aware from the public preoccupation, this problem is very dangerous, even the people have started to worry about their situation on earth. Therefore, pollution transforms in a problem that people are becoming increasingly aware of, because this is a theme that involves all of us and for our fault the earth is sick.

On the one hand, the environment is very important to people and It is obvious, because we breathe this air and If we contaminated, we are killing ourselves. For that reason, people start to worry more about the planet they are living, for example taking care of recycling, not throwing papers to the street or even using renewable energy, like solar panel. Despite, there are some things that people would keep doing that pollute. Using the car is an option, people won´t stop to using It because they need to transportate, but they can replace It by using the bike or public transport. Besides the industries also started to worry about this topic, producing ecologic car which they are charged not by gasoline that is what contaminated, at list they are charged by electric energy. 

And in the other hand, being a ecology persons is difficult, because the stress life of working do not have time left to be It. For example, to be able to recycle you must have time for separated the garbage and go to a place to throw it away, and sometimes there are not near centers of recycling. Besides the solar screen are very expensive, and not is something that everybody can have access to. In spite of all this problems, every time there are more people that worry about the pollution and make all they can to find a solution to this problem.

To summarize, is important to say that pollution is something that involves all of us and we have to work every day to find more solution, because the damage is done, and the only option is to not increase It. People figure out that this is a theme that we provocate and involves our life’s and the life of the people after us, so now is the time to improve this, there are a lot of option and everyday people are discovering more solutions to this huge problem.

Living in a remote area.

Living in a remote area can make a person's life rather challenging because all will transform in something difficult if you can´t have a fast or easy access to the basic services. If you live in a remote area, first the transport is something that you must fight every day, because there are a few ways to transport of a place to another. For example, there are one bus that can take you to the center because if you want to buy something there is not a near place to buy it, so the only option is to go to a supermarket, that takes you 30 minutes to get there. Also, this bus don´t pass 24 hours, the last comes out at 9:00 pm, and in the case you take more time in something you have to do, there is not option to come back home, you have to stay at the place you went or be dependent of a car. Is important to mention that where the bus live you, you must walk more to your house. Therefore, this affects a lot the life of a person that lives in a remote area, because most of the time you lose interest of going out or sometimes you just can´t.  A second point, besides the transport, is the basic services like electricity or the use of the drinking water, this is the fundamental thing you must have, the lack of this element, produces the creation of wells where you can draw water for the daily use.
However,in this type of places an important fact that affects the people is the healthinessthat is very limited, for the same lack of clean water and an important thing,the rats and insects, this is a big problem, like in the countryside becausesometimes can be a mouse in your own house or an insect pest, and thiscomplicate more the situation because you must be being in constant cleanlinessof the place. Butafter all the bad thing, there is something this type of places has that is thetranquility, even all the difficulties that are presented, it doesn´t compareto this relaxing place, away from the traffic, loud noise or contamination. Ilive in a remote area and despite all the bad thing that present, the good aremore. Nowadays i lived at the city for the studies and I pass all the weekthinking of going back to the tranquility of the remote area I lived.

Key concepts in ELT: Evaluation

This work, apart being short and well organized, and has a list of references that validate the author’s arguments and researches; it doesn’t do very good things to a normal reader or a beginner student.

This is because is unpleasant and it drives the attention of the reader. It uses difficult words and concepts and the students have to read it more than once to understand it, even when is short. It doesn’t use quotes in the right form so the references are useless.

However, the subject of the text is interesting but first you have to have some knowledge about this, and this is a good theme to write an essay.  At the final paragraph the author tell us that the subject of the investigation is still in its infancy, but that we have to investigate more and more for the relevance of the matter. 

The last paper I read

The last paper I read was “social question and popular protest”. The teacher that recommended was the one of Social history of Chile. I think he gave us this text because is about a theme that is important in the social history that is the “cuestion social”, so the text make a lot of sense with the matter of the class. Also, this text shows all this part of the history and the importance of it. Most of the reading I enjoy it, the only thing is that the text is long so in parts I get a little bit bored and I lost the idea. But in general, is a good text, interesting and with a lot of excellent information.

Besides, related to my career I would like to read more about the social work and the beginning of it. Also, the social work in the military dictatorship because I’m really into how the social work came out after a long repression.

When I had too much to study I tried to do all on the weekend and if I can´t I distribute the texts on the week. Sometimes I don´t sleep because I get studying but that happened when I had to read too much or when I get lazy on weekend so I let all to last minute. 

My future study idea.

Nowadays I´m in my first year of studying Social work because the social area always has been something that interests me a lot. Besides the fact to make a social change on the society is the central focusing of this career, so first of all that´s the reason that I’m studying and also why I love It.

If I had to think in a study research I don´t believe that in this area (Social Work) it´s more like project to work with people. In this case, my research field is Psychiatric and the principal point is the reinsertion of people that has been rehabilitated of a psychiatric hospital and went out of there and wants to start a new and kind of normal life, for example getting a job, house, etc. Also orient they like to be in this society. 

I´m really interested in this area because, first of all I always like the psychiatric theme, I’m really into this people because they had been categorize like bad people, like crazy and they are always looked down on even not knowing them. I don´t like the prejudices that the people treat them. I think they are really interesting people that ones they had been rehabilitated they can do a normal life, obviously they had more cares but not for that they have to be treated different. 

I think this contribute to my study area because one important thing of Social Work is to improve people to tell them that they are able to be someone on this society....

Charles Ronson

An English man was born March 28 of 1975. At the age of 11 he went to St. John Fisher R.C High School until he was 16 years old. Then he enters to study Psychology at the University of Cambridge on U.K. After he finished his BA, he went to University Cardiff to do an MSc of Occupational Psychology he ended at the age of 23. However he keeps increasing his studies, so he decided to do a PhD in Educational Psychology at University of Preston. He had finished at the age of 35.

Therefore, he starts working. First of all he got in 2001 to 2003 a job at University of Gloucestershire on Cheltenham. He uses his skills as an Occupational Psychology to give facilitation of knowledge transfer to first and third year undergraduate Psychology students. Also at the same university worked in a course for MSc level Psychology in the Workplace students. Then in 2004 he got a job that last until today as a Research Consultant, where he had to transport research Laboraties in Crowthorne. Also this job consist on being part of a research team on a 40,000 GBP research project at the University of Gloucestershire for the Highways Agency to investigate aspects of driver behavior in regard to road safety. He keeps this job nowadays. The same at this next job that he get on 2011 until today, he works in a Private English Language teacher where he had to teach English courses for students of all levels with the age range of 4-40.

In fact of his long career of Psychology studies and also the important jobs that he had it´s important to point out his past and recognize publication and presentations. One of them was published in 2011at a conference of the European Association of High Ability in Paris, France and it´s named The Affective Influence of Enriched Education on Talented Children in Chile. However there is another presentation that he made a few years ago on 2004 in company with Chaney and the name was Diversity and Relationships to Students Success, a conference that they made on New Orleans. 

In addition to his publications and presentations is important to notice some of his publication in progress the two of them has been started written in 2012, the name of one of them is The Design of a Scale to Examine the Socio-affective Differences in Chilean Schoolchildren. Now he is keep working on this documents.

English Language Challenges

For this subject, I have to say that I like it, I think that was a good course, where I learned a lot and get to know more my classmates. The only bad thing that I would like to mention is the time, because before English I had the Mondays free and when I knew it was sad because I have to came to classes on this days that I didn´t have before. 

Now, talking about the blogs I think It´s a good idea for writing text, because you can upload your homework and then the teacher check it. Also is a good form to relate with the classmates and now more about things, for example the theme of the task, winter vacation, post graduate plans, etc. 

I think for my English I have to improve the grammar, because when the miss cheeked my task I used to have a lot of grammar mistakes. Also I think that I have to get better my English talking, because I don´t practice too much.

Outside the class I think I don´t practice or used it to much. However I always try to watch movies or series in English. Not only because the films in English are better than translated, also because It´s an easy and good form to improve my English. But apart from that I don’t used to much, just for English classes.

To finalize, I would like to mention that I enjoyed a lot the times that we had fun, like when we did in groups or the time we sang karaoke, I think that things like that I would never forget.

Election Day.

Voting is something that everybody should do, because is a way to show your civil right. However, is son something that not all do, and then they claim about the president of their country. That´s the reason why I would like to vote this next election, I think that the vote of everyone count and If we all do It we can really make a change on the country. 

I think that the electoral campaigns are very populist and I think that they must focus more in real changes than, more than lying to get a vote. 

A personal who want to run for a public position must be transparent and honest, because If we think it, he or she would be recognize for all the country so you can´t be colluded and steal from the same people you are ruling. But this is something that all the politicians do. 

I consider getting involved in politic but not like affiliate to a politic party. Just to think and participate on political debates.

To finalize ,the campaigns of the next president of Chile are really bad, except from Beatriz Sanchez, I think that she would get my vote because I consider that her proposals are interesting and I think she sticks out from the group of liars that are postulating for Republic President 

Changes to my study programme

I really like the programme study of my career, I think that are interesting subjects. But one thing that I would like to add is to have more practicing. I mean not wait to the third years to start going to real situations. I think that in social work you must have known from the beginning what you are going to do in the end of the career, having a lot of practicing and no too much theory classes. Besides another subject that I would like to add is a class where they teach us how to relate with other people, not relations with the classmates. It´s to start knowing how to talk and act in front of situations that when we were working we would have to front. I don’t know it´s an ethic class but something similar.

However, related to Faculty facilities, I think the faculty needs more places to study. Nowadays It´s difficult to find a quiet place or a place where are space. I mean it because I prefer to study at the university so every time I want to do It, I´m going around all the campus to find some place to sit. There are too many students for few libraries. Another thing that can be a good idea It´s to stablish are some places quiet where you can concentrate easily and another place to do group work, where you can talk of things like that. For example, Facso's library isn´t really a library because there is always too much noise and It´s really difficult to concentrate there. 

Now, in case of using technology I think that Facso gives a lot of tools in this part, for example there are good and free Wi-Fi, some computers that you can borrow and a place where you can print copies. 

To conclude, I would like to add that the teachers in my career are really great, they have a lot of knowledge about what they are teaching. The only thing is that sometimes my classmates and me can´t understand them very well, it´s difficult to follow the class because they give too much topics in a short period of time.

My winter vacations

I love winter!, I think that it is my favorite season. Because it  is the rght time to lye in bed, warm and comfortable to watch movies and eat warm thing. For that reason I wouldn´t go to any place for winter vacation because I prefer to spend it in my house, sleeping all the day and resting from the firts semester. I think there isn´t a good time to go on vaction to somewhere because it is a time to rest a little for the end of the year. I would spend a lot  of time with my family, especially my little sibilings because I don´t see them very often. Also with my firends  I'm going to the movies or just going out. Another activity that I obviusly would do is to sleep very much and rest from all the studies. But also progressing on my studies to start well the next semestrer. Besides I would like to go out with my grandmas to dinner or something like that. I hope it rains a lot because that's one of the things that I love the most about  winter. Also eating sopaipillas and drinking a lot of tea. However it´s a good idea to have a job and earn some money. I forgot to mencion that I would like to go to the beach for the day, I would like to go with my 2 best friends because now I don´t see them very much so I would like to spend some time with them. And that will be a resume of my winter vacation.

My favorite TV show

                            Modern Family

I think that to watch a complete series you have to have a lot of free time, so the time that I dedicated to watch TV series is mostly on vacation. Actually, I started this serie on this summer vacation and I haven´t finished watching it because I don´t have  much time. This TV series is called Modern Family.

It´s about a non ordinary family compose by 3 generation, first of all, It is Jay Prichett who is the grandpa and father of Clare Prichett who married Phill Dunphy, they had 3 kids. On the other hand, It is Mitchel Prichet who is the partner of Cameron Tucker, they had two kids that they are adopted. Also  Jay Prichett is married to Gloria Delgado who had a child named Many Delgado, and together they had one kid.

I´m going to tell about the story until the point that I watched It. The theme of the serie is to show the life of these families and how they interact. It´s is a comedy serie so every fact in the show had a sense of humor.

My favorite episode is when Mithcel and Cameron adopted their firt child named Lily. It was a beautiful chapter because nobody agreed with them to adopt a child, their family said that they weren´t ready. But when Lily got home all the family were really happy and in love of her.

Besides, I like this TV serie because the character Gloria Delgado, that is intepretated by Sofia Vergara. I love her because in the serie she intepretates an Colombian and dramatic woman, the accent and the attitude she did it so well and funny that I think that I like to watch the serie in part for her acting, It is the funniest part because It is such an extravagant character that made the series even more amusing. 

This is one of the best series I have watched and I hope to finish watching It someday! 

Postgraduate studios

I would like to keep studying a long time after finishing my carrer. Something like after getting my degree work for 6 years, but it´s not something that is number one on my list, it´s just a far dream. Because It´s too expensive (Altought I hope, by that time, there will be public, free and quiality eduaction) and also, now I don´t feel so motivated to keep studying after finishing this carreer. However, this would be a master degree in social science mention in sociology, I think this one because the sociology always caught my atention but not as much as social work.

Besides Social is something that I  have always been interested in and I would like to keep learning about it. I would like to study in Chile in this same university, because I like it and that master is given here.I think to study out of the country must be something incredible but I don´t think that  I would ever do it, It´s just a dream. Besides I heard about a scholarship about travelling out the country, to do a master degree of the carreer you study, a teacher of my school had it.And in a part-time course, because I will be working at the same time to pay the carreer and also I would like to have my own house by that time and that costs money too. 

My future job

When  I finish my career, I would like to have a service job, I like that voluntary service that you have to postulate in that organization for this services. I imagine it helping and teaching people in countries like Haití, India, Africa or any country that the organization will send me like "Servicio País".
Obviusly for this job It has to be outdoors, because I have to go to the houses of the people or in a center, but always moving, not like an oficce where the people go to ask for help.
I would like to travel a lot at this job, in more places that I came It will be better. Also I wouldn´t like to travel all the time because I'm also interensting of working here, in a school or an old's people home, especially th elast one, I would like to love to work with old people.
Definitely not in a office, I have that , I hate the fact of being closed in a room all day with a computer.
However  after getting my career and worked for 3-5 years, and if I do It well and earn money (I hope  for those days will be inclusive, free public education ) I would like to get the Sociology career to have more knowledge about people and stuying them. Besides If I can had a major in Social Work.

Someone I'd like to meet

Residente

I have always loved the band named Calle 13, but I love more the vocalist Residente, he was born in Puerto Rico, he is a raper,producer and composer. He is characterized by his lyrics that have political and social content. He has recived a lot of awards for his music and his social activities. And that´s the thing that I more admire of him, because he is very active and helpfull in the social part. For example, everywhere he has been invited, he brings something written on his shirt, arms or back, messages that are incetive for the people to keep fighting for their rights. Also with his band he joined the UNICEF in a compaing against human trafficking and exploitation of teenagers and children. Besides he made a lot of benefit concert to help people that surfer a natural disaster, and he didn´t earn money for those concerts, he just asked for some food and basical hygienic elements. 
He had recived important accomplishments a few of them and which I considered more important are the "Nobel Summit Peace Award"  thanks to his social labors and  the
 inspirational of his lyrics. He recived it in November of 2015. Another award that he recived in 2012 was  the "Rodolfo Wash award" for contributing to the comunication and popular culture.

Finally, I would like to add, that Residente apart from being a Social activist, he  is also a education persistent. In 2011 he reunited with the leaderers of the Chilean education, to support the fight of a free, quality and public education.

Cultura Profetica Concert

I'm not a person that attends to many concerts, but the few I have gone to had been really nice. I will talk about the time I went to see "Cultura Profetica" at that time I wasn't like a big fan I knew a few songs of theirs. It was Summer of 2015 in Movistar Arena. I went with my sister and a friend. I spent a really great time there, because the music that they played was really good and the atmosphere of the concert was entretaining and I felt really comfortable. After that concert I kind of decide that this is the type of music I like. Also, in this summer I went to their second concert, It was good, but I didn´t felt like the first time, I still listen to them but no very much like I used to. I think they went too popular and like ordinary. Besides, now I prefer other kind of concerts, more like carnival style, because I don´t like the noise very much and in a closed place It's a little bit annoying.

A Country I would like to visit

                                  Cuba

I would like to travel all around the world, but the first one on my list is Cuba, I have always wanted to visit this country, I like the history, the places and the happy people. I know about this country that It has a huge list of events that let a trace in the country and all the world.
If I ever travel there, I would do it just for having more knowledge about the history of this country, for example Che Guevara and the missile war. Also learn about the culture, the food and the people. 
I think I would like to study there something like a magister or else, because I have read that their education is really good and people get a lot of good experiences. 
Also, I would start saving money from now, because It is a little bit expensive as any other trip. 
But I  would make that effort because I really want to visit Cuba, my sister went there and said to me that It is a place you have to go before you die. 

Welcome

Hello my name is Camila Ignacia Rodríguez Yañez, I'm 18 years old and I'm from the carrer Social Work at Universidad de Chile.
On the one hand, I think that my weaknesses for this subject are that I don´t know too many world in english as I would like to know, also that I don´t practice very much and I feel very ashamed when I have to talk in English.
And on the other hand, my strengths are that I understand very well the language and I think I have good listening comprehension.
I really like English and it is always good to learn more, so my expectations for this class are to practice more and improve my pronunciation.
